New Twitter Logo

    Hi,

I just wondered what everyone thinks of the new Twitter Logo?

Me personally, I think it's awful!

I'm right with you!  I don't like it either.  I don't even think it's a good quality graphic.  What up with the "X" anyway? "X" has so many meanings and I know "X" is Musks thing, but seriously?

The bird and "tweet" went together.  Is the "X" going to do something? What can the letter "X" do? 🤓

It makes me wonder why Musk bought Twitter in the first place? Why would you want to spoil such a thing that is already well established and where everyone knows the brand logo? Is it just a school boyish fad of his, or has he got ulterior motives behind it?

I've said this before, he should just stick at what he's good at, making rockets!

Agreed!  I've been suspicious about Musk's intent with Twitter from the beginning and my suspicions are based on some of the elite company he keeps and you are on to something with motive. I think we've yet to see the whole metamorphoses.

Yes, why would you put the "kibosh" on an already branded product including logo?  Twitter has already been struggling since Musk bought it. Maybe he's trying to pull a "Meta" move and change the name to rebrand, but even then that doesn't make sense?

With "X", twitter is no longer twitter and the "tweet" part just got niXed too (capital "X" intended for emotional context and use of "X").

I agree with you on he should go back to making rockets and I would add go back to the drawing board and fix your Tesla brand to fix the fires, battery explosions, and the Tesla's that are accelerating on their own.  That's where focus needs to be and that's safety.

So when it comes to "Tweet it", does that mean we now have to X it instead? I think where Twitter is going I might just EXIT!

To "X" something reminds me of the word "nix", like nixing it, to make it go away. I don't think "they" thought this through very well, but the loyal "X-er's" won't care, they will just stay there. I haven't been to Twitter in months. It's just not a comfortable place to find even a niche of discussion and if you do, there's always hateful people out there ready to disagree just because it's fun for them to be a total moron.

No, I don't really use Twitter for my personal use, I do create accounts for my websites to try and promote them and also use their Developers API to enable Logins via Twitter, but that's about it!

I still don't know why Musk bought it in the first place? It seems to me that he has that much money and maybe bought it just as a bit of a hobby because he was bored, maybe a publicity stunt, but then again, is there an ulterior motive somewhere?

He has already lost some major advertisers so as a business man surely he can see that what he's doing is not for the benefit of Twitter or it's users, I just don't get it, "don't try and fix what's not broke!"

I don't use Twitter for personal use either.  I used to be active back in 2007 to 2009 when I was posting updates for a gaming website I had. It was silly and fun back then.  It's really different now.

Now they are calling Twitter "X" formerly known as Twitter.  Does Musk call that branding?  I've been thinking all along like you, that there's another motive.  Apparently, X will have "everything" available to do on the platform.  Somehow, someone collecting all of my data, my credit card information and all of my contacts isn't comforting.  I barely use fakebook except to wish friends "happy birthday" for that reason.

I have read too, he's lost a lot of advertising dollars and even some businesses/advertisers are pushing back in different ways to oppose "X".

Apparently, Musk missed that lesson in business class to don't fix what's not broken.

I 100% agree, seems odd to pay $43 billion for a brand then change it.

I do recall many years back in UK a supermarket company, Morrisons, bought the Safeways chain as they felt the well known brand would give them inroads to different areas. They never, to the best of my knowledge used the Safeways name and merely absorbed them into their own trade name.

I reckon the public's use of the name Twitter and to tweet will remain. Maybe new users may use the X name but established users may well continue to 'tweet' rather than to 'X'

You're so right....43 billion is an awful lot of money to gamble with and one of the big no-no's in the website world is not to make so many changes because member's generally don't like it as they get comfortable when they have time to fly in and post a when everything is the same but disorienting when the way the website functions changes too much too fast. If members will be expected to pay for an account, in this economy, I don't see that being a successful change at all. I won't pay to be on "X".

I recall the Safeway's and the look of the store fronts in the US. They were very popular supermarkets in the south when I was ummm....much younger. I had no idea the Safeway brand was purchased by a UK company, interesting history. If Musk keeps on the path he's on with "X" I just don't see it will have a good ending. I'm still suspicious there's an unknown endgame with "X".

I do see new users calling it "X" too and maybe that's what Musk is going for, bringing in a certain new demographic??

Oddly though supermarkets often change aisles around to force people to search.

I know if I am shopping I can be very quick as I know where items are located so generally I am in and out very quickly, maybe spend a little time perusing the wine otherwise I just want to be out of there.

Weirdly the Aldi layout in US is identical to UK.

Back to twitter as I was going off topic, maybe Elon is just getting people to delve in to the site a wee bit more but like @webdiva said, I would not pay to stay on X

Ha......so that's what supermarkets are doing....so I go on a search to find an item then find new items because they changed the configuration and suddenly I have twice as much coming home then what was on my list.

Interesting about Aldi.  They are unique because they are designed for a smaller quick trip experience at least here in the US or from what I've seen when I've been to one...if that's a correct observation?

Agreed on Musk, that he keeps Twitter/X in the news all of the time so the website creates curiosity and traffic?  The thing is, I'm not sure that most of what I hear about "X" is positive since Musk took it over??

I noticed fakebook's alternative to Threads is active now, but I read that even though Threads started out with a lot of new users, the interest has taken a huge dive. For the record, not on Threads.

I would certainly not pay to stay on Twitter either! I don't ever think it's been that good anyway!

I wouldn't pay to be on X either. I'm not even sure how they have maintained advertisers?
