Something that has puzzled me for some time is many electric heaters have various power levels and a thermostat. Unless I am missing something obvious if one uses a heater at, for example, 500 watts it will be on for twice as long as if used at 1000 watts.
Appreciate they can relate to perhaps smaller or bigger spaces to heat but even in a small room if heater is used at maximum it heats quicker then thermostat turns it off.
I often really notice power level differences when I visit US - the kettle takes ages to boil, in UK as we have 230v system most of our kettles are 2000 watts and boil quickly.

I didn't know this about the UK versus the US wattage. Our kettles do take awhile to boil. I think also, for heat to be effective, placement of vents or number of vents per square footage and carefully placed vents can make a big difference on how comfortable a room is.
