Earlier in the year I visited US and my mobile phone had poor connection capabilities, surprising as same phone at same location was fine in 2019. The phone I was using was 3G and 4G only but 2019 and before connections were good, whatsapp fine, google maps very good, very useful. On returning to US early 2023 connections virtually unusable. The only change was US providers have embraced 5G fully, so I am told.
This visit new phone, 5G and all works perfectly.
Now back in UK my old phone works fine, we have 5G in UK but old 4G phones work fine.
I can only deduce that the 5G system in US lacks backward compatibilty, or is the industry try to force people to upgrade their phones?
Geffers
I think the later part of your query is probably the main issue, that the industry is trying to force people to upgrade and embrace 5G.
