When technology breaks....

Today was the day, that not only did one electronic item break, but two.  My toaster of several years no longer will toast and my shredder for many years said "nah-uh" today and won't turn on anymore.  Today I'm less a toaster and a shredder....sigh.

So when one door closes another door opens....lol and my dh suggested I look at the ID stamps instead of another shredder or at least try out the stamp and see if I like it.  I'm going to try something new and maybe it will even save me time.  Just think about it, when you shred, you have to keep emptying the shred container.  With the stamp, you just roll over what you don't want to be seen to others and done.  What do you all think?  Maybe?

I think a shredder is better!

Probably...lol...I forgot when I bought this that we have an extra shredder in our garage.   I just don't like the garage right now since I had to deal with that copperhead....Blimey!

I'm still not over it.  I've only seen venomous snakes through a glass panel, but in my freaking garage was just the highest level of freak for me.  I've been very cautious in my garage since the other day because I'm still not sure that was the only one and the copperhead just came in when the garage door was open or there's a nest somewhere close, like in my garage, good grief!  I use my flashlight to walk in the garage and before pulling out a truck, I look under both to make sure it's a clear.

I did a bit of delving into why today's appliances don't last as long as they used to! You might find the articles below quite interesting:

Good reads on both of your links, thank you!  Very interesting to know where all of these appliances are made and why they degrade sooner now over time because of more plastic parts and consolidated spaces to make the overall appliance smaller too.

I do have two Miele vacuum cleaners (canister and upright)  I'm on my second one now on the canister.  German engineering is supposed to be excellent, however, my first Miele lost the motor and that was under warranty.  Then it busted again a few years later.  I believe I had this vacuum for a bout 8 years total.  My second Miele canister seems more sturdy and it's a better design, though chunkier.  Now I'm curious to see how long it will last.

We have had terrible experiences with washer's and dryers since 2004.  I think I'm on my 6th set and now our washer and dryer do not match as we just got a new dryer about 8 months ago.  I'm fully expecting the washer to give out any day.  Part of the reason we lost our last dryer was because of poor ventilation.  We did have to clean out that vent which was preventing the dryer from working like it should as it burned out the circuit board and heating element in the dryer.

Our dishwasher was the longest lasting. Originally installed in 2005 and we just replaced it about two years ago.  It worked fine until the end, but was very noisy.   The dishwasher i have now is so quiet, it's amazing.

There you go, a bit of appliance history at my casa.
