Love them or hate them there is no denying they are amazing structures. The seem to turn slowly and gracefully yet the outside edge of the blades can be travelling at over 150mph.
This short video shows the technology involved which makes me wonder, how much do they cost and how can they possibly be profitable for the purchaser.
Maybe they said the same about the old fashioned windmills. Did US ever have those types of windmills? Some of UK's windmills are older than the US is as a Country.

I had no idea wind generators were so complicated from the blade's function to the motor and generator to accelerate speed.
I'm not sure if the US had those old wooden windmills, but it seems we would have had them.
I'm not a fan of windmills when they occupy beautiful scenery and take away ocean views. I'm particularly not a fan for the harm they may cause marine life when they are sitting on the ocean floor along coastlines. Of course, harming birds is sad too.
The however part, is they that they do serve a purpose to offer an alternative power source for many.
