Not only did I not even think about how electronics were recycled, but I also didn't even know there were places to drop off your electronics for recycle. In the UK we have local council run recycle centres (US refers to them as City run), at our UK centres we can recycle practically everything, electronics, kitchen appliances, hard and soft plastics, wood, metal, batteries, oil, garden waste. All at the same location. No charge either if you are a resident. We have the collector trucks too but there are certain items they don't take so residents go to one on our centres to dispose of the goods.

The UK sounds pretty organized when it comes to recycling. We have bins that we put our recycle stuff in that are pick up every week but it's only for glass, paper and plastic stuff. There needs to be a more organized center in the US like you have in the UK so we all would recycle more of the goods like you listed above.
