Samsung eliminating messages

If you have an android phone, Samsung has eliminated their messaging app.  You are required by July 6th, 2026, to switch over to the Google Message app.  I did the switch yesterday and I'm very unhappy with the Google message app.  I'm missing features that saved a lot of time and my photo section has changed its look too.

Overall, the look of it doesn't work for me and I miss the one step of deleted/blocking spam. I can't do that anymore.  I have to go into the text message, then click on the little menu, report and block as spam, then I can delete the message.  This is three steps to the one I had.

On this change, I also lost 3 months of text history from my mom.  If I switch back to Samsung messages, I can see the missing messages though.  I also read if you delete the Samsung app, you will never be able to get it back. So, if there's stuff on it you want to keep, don't delete it.

Very frustrated, plus, not thrilled to be using a third-party app for texting.

Does anyone have an android and have made this change? Did it go well or did you have any issues?
