In the old days if you bought a movie on Disk or VHS tape it was yours. You could loan it to someone, take it round to a friend's house, even take it to another country and play it. Appreciate DVDs had regional restrictions but most computers could deal with that OK.
However, buy and digital movie and it is not yours.
Bought a movie from Amazon UK - currently in US and shows as currently not available. Even tried a VPN with a UK location but still not available. maybe I should have tried to download it (didn't actually think of that) but guess I'll have DRM issues. Shall try out of curiosity when I return to UK.

That is a pretty frustrating issue. I hope when you get back to the UK, it works.
I miss the actual "tactile" part of having the CD/DVD and knowing the CD/DVD belongs to me. The downside, of course is anything that's not digital in nature takes up home real estate space. I do like digital for that reason that everything is stored in my pc. I had a friend that would loan out her movies, but she had her name sprawled on the video. I always said "no thanks". It would be just my luck something would happen to her movie if I borrowed it. I envisioned she had a major document in her computer of her movie library and updated it when she loaned it out and would be a "Karen" if I didn't return it in sufficient time. Oh, and we're not friends anymore.
